Tax Information and Assistance: ID.me Account

Guide to New Jersey and Federal tax information.

Creating Your ID.me Account

*Note you may already have an ID. me account if you had previously used other State or Federal programs. If you are unsure, you may try to log on to the ID.me website or just click the Forgot Password link and see if your email address is registered.

To create an ID.me account, you will need to have a valid driver’s license, State-issued ID, passport, or passport card.  You will be prompted to upload photos of this ID, which you may take in advance with a cell phone and uploaded when prompted during the application process.

Prior to starting your ID.me application, make sure to enable camera access to your default web browser on your cell phone – this can be done in the settings area under applications or camera.

The first part of the application asks you to enter an email address and password, or you may opt to use a single sign-on to import your settings from another provider – Facebook, Google, Apple, LinkedIn, DS Logon, and HealtheVet are all services you may log onto to complete the application.

You will be asked for your contact information and other account basics, then the application will ask to authenticate your account using an email or cell phone via text. At this point, you will also get a link texted or emailed to you. This link will allow you to upload the pictures of the required documents from the list noted above. You also will provide a selfie at this time.
